Beru AG manufactures the Beru Tire Safety System (TSS), a unit that directly records tyre pressure when a vehicle is either stationary or moving.
The second-generation Beru TSS system that BMW is fitting to its U.S. market vehicles features a trigger transmitter and will alert the driver if tyre pressure is down by as little as 0.2 bar (2.901 psi), an amount that can lead to increased tyre wear. It will also provide warning of gradual or sudden losses in pressure.
The Beru TSS was introduced in 1998 and has been factory installed by a number of manufacturers, including Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Ferrari, Maserati, Maybach, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen.
