Cooper Research Scientist Honored

Dr. John Luchini, a research scientist for Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., was awarded the Superior Paper of 2006 honor by The Tire Society. It marked the second time Dr. Luchini has won the award.

Dr. Luchini’s paper, “Modeling Transient Rolling Resistance of Tires,” compared the theoretical model for rolling resistance with data measured by co-author Jim Popio of Smithers Scientific Services Inc. The paper was based on two years’ research “about the ability of our technology to represent testing of tires using the 2001 version of the SAE standards.
