Avon Ranger H
Cool running undertread: Avon have managed to fit a special compound rubber between the radial belts and tread to minimise heat in the belts during high speed use.Hexiform bead profile: The new hexiform construction locks the tyre onto the rim.
Jointless belts: Avon have incorporated the jointless cap plies usually used in high performance car tyres. These give uniformity and high speed stability.
Longitudinal grooves: Three broad grooves around the tyre resist aquaplaning allowing deep surface water to shoot along them before being cleared by lateral slots.
S-shaped sipes: Ranger-H is M+S (Mud & Snow) marked and has heavy siping to provide multiple cutting edges on soft surfaces.
Opti-Noise Technology: Road noise on large 4x4 tyres can be a problem. Not with Ranger-H. Avon's unique Opti-Noise software scrambles the frequencies produced by tread blocks on the road, thereby minimising the total sound produced.
Scalloped shoulders: Alternate scalloped shoulders allow the tyre to "bite" into soft or loose surfaces.
Tall sidewall stiffener: Some 4x4 tyres give drivers a "wallowing" feeling on corners. Avon have addressed this by using a stiff rubber bead filler. This has the added advantage of quickening the steering response.
H-rated: Ranger-H is rated to handle speeds up to 130 mph (210 km/h), when tested on an indoor test wheel.
