Matador FU 1 City
Construction of the FU CITY tyre and the structure of its materialThe tyre is made from an ALL STEEL construction with a no-tube rendering that consists of one load-bearing insertion built from steelcord and four contact breaker insertions from the same type of material. The tyre base has a new profile: the applied hexagonal cord, double core, with a steelcord protection and base fillings from special mixtures. The tyre body is constructed from a profiled inner rubber, with a new system of rubber covering the steelcord body, and contact breakers with the application of a new shoulder part filling.
The tread of the tyre is composed of two layers ? the external one which is made from a mixture that has a long durability with a high number of made kilometers and an inner layer which leads away the heat produced during the rotation of a loaded tyre. The tyre is typical for its strengthened shoulder parts and sidewalls, which are equipped with four indicators of wearing, with the depth of 5 mm.
Technical specification of the product and the tread pattern characteristics
The tread pattern FU1 was designed for trucks and buses used in urban, communal and suburban traffic. The configuration of the tread pattern, as well as other qualities of the tyre ? mainly the shoulder part of the sidewall, are optimized for the specific conditions of urban traffic ? e. g. frequent changes in speed, constant accelerating and breaking, as well as higher probability of contact with the curbstones or sidewalk pavement. The basic design and possibilities of application of tyres with the FU 1 tread pattern is defined for all-season usage mainly on the driving axles. On a seasonal basis it is possible however to use tyres with such tread pattern as a single solution on all axles of the vehicle. The tread pattern also takes into account the variety of road surfaces and the regular changes in climatic conditions. For these conditions it is also equipped with a sufficient reserve in performance and reliability. The depth of the tread pattern grooves is 17 mm.
The tread pattern characteristics
- strengthened shoulder and sidewall zone minimizes possible damage from contact with curbstones
- indicators for signalization of the allowed wearing of the sidewall
- stable circumferential configuration minimizes possible formation of unequal wearing in the circumferential direction while maintaining good maneuvering qualities
- strong shoulder belts secure long durability of the tread pattern in the conditions of very frequent changes of direction (curves, intersections)
- number and position of circumferential grooves is optimized for a balanced course of transversal wearing and for full use of the tread pattern profile
- short transversal grooves increase the traction qualities of the tread pattern in more demanding conditions and enables all-season usage
- proved lamelling technique provides for good adhesion on wet surfaces
Driving qualities
The configuration of the tread pattern secures high durability of tyres mainly in urban and suburban traffic. In a subjective evaluation ? the tyres maintain direction, absorb bumps and roughness of the road very well, the noise fades out in the noise of the surroundings, the tyres react immediately and smoothly even during sharp changes of direction.
Application
Tyres equipped with the FU1 CITY tread pattern are designed for application on city buses and special community vehicles with all kinds of extensions for maintenance of urban communications, and vehicles for waste transportation with a high frequency of usage.
