History of the ALCAR Group
The ALCAR Group was founded in the early summer months of 1984 under its previous name "BBV Beteiligungs GmbH". The company originally focused on distributing steel wheels in Austria, as well as commissioning steel wheel production from the KROMAG company in Hirtenberg. In the subsequent years the company has undergone successive expansion phases:
Acquisition of the activities of KROMAG AG and their integration into the newly established KROMAG Metallindustrie GmbH; expansion of our activities to include the manufacture and distribution of steel cabinets.
Development of a distribution network throughout Europe; acquisition of distribution companies in the automotive wheel aftermarket in Austria, Sweden, Great Britain and Hungary.
Acquisition of the alloy wheel brand AEZ; establishment of the German ALCAR distribution company; acquisition of wheel activities of Switzerland's E. Ambrosetti & Söhne AG and its integration into the newly founded Ambrosetti Räder AG.
Expansion of our distribution network to the Dutch, Belgian and Danish, as well as the Czech and Polish markets.
Purchase of 50% share in the alloy wheel manufacturer Schmidt (renamed AEZ Produktion GmbH) with today two sites in Germany; 100% acquisition of the alloy wheel brand DEZENT.
Entrance of our holding company and our national distribution companies onto the market under the joint name ALCAR.
Expansion of our distribution network to the Italian and Russian markets Acquistion of Consud S.r.l.'s steel wheel plant in Casandrino near Naples (Italy).
Opening of AEZ Produktion GmbH's new alloy wheel production site in Neuenrade, Germany.
Acquisition of an additional 50% share in AEZ Produktion GmbH within the context of a trust agreement.
Nowadays ALCAR HOLDING is a powerful production, logistics and trade structure, employing 795 people in 13 countries worldwide, who work in 31 trade affiliates. The company owns 5 production sites, 5 own brands and 6 logistics centers in Europe – which proves the immensity, business activity and financial stability of the holding.
